    Windows Default Sounds

My Windows does not play any default sounds when logging or when some errors occur. I don't know why, my speakers' aren't on mute, and they are working fine. It's just that windows does not play it's own sounds.

I can play music, but windows does not play it's own sounds. What will I do? :O

I'm at ubuntu right now but Go to> Control Panel > Sounds > (and there will be a tab to change the startup sounds etc.)

It didn't work. I can play some mp3 and other files. But the default files and bundles of windows sounds can't be played. The login sound, error sound, logoff, etc.

open regedit, navigate to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents key.

Rt click it and select Export.

That way you get a .reg file.

Before you do that, rt click the little speaker icon in the notification area, select Sounds and see what sound scheme is selected.

Are you able to preview any of the Windows sounds while in the Sounds control panel (for your currently active sound scheme)? Do they play then?

    No, I can't preview them.
    But they play.

They play when I play them in WMP.

They are standard WAV files, right? MP3 or similar wouldn't work...
