    Asus Xonar D2/PM Install Problems

    Good evening all!!

Not sure if this is the correct place to ask this but....

Just wondered if someone can help me. I've recently bought an asus xonar D2/PM,

I downloaded the updated drivers from the Asus website and tried installing it on my new Windows 7 64 bit install but every time i run the install it crashes the PC which leaves me with the dreaded blue screen.
I also tried installing with the drivers disc that came with the soundcard but i get the exact problem

Has anyone had a similar problem and if so can you help me please!

I've experienced the same problem, but instead of bluescreening, it just hung. I had (at that time) an ASUS P5K mainboard.

This is what I did to alleviate this and successfully install the card:

    1. Downloaded the latest driver
    2. Disabled all devices that I didn't need, i.e. com, lpt, embedded audio (especially that) in the BIOS
    3. Installed the driver with success and enjoyed the clear, quality sound

    Good luck!

Update: Just installed on my new PC, forgot to disable onboard audio. The driver crashed windows. Disabled the onboard audio, successful install!

I tried installing the default driver which I downloaded from the Asus website on my brand new i5 3450 with Asus z77 chipset mobo. My system hang when installing the driver. The progress bar simply got stuck @ 99%.

I got the card to work by the following steps:

Go to Device Manager, Select the Xonar D2 device (which for me already appeared under Sound Video and Game controllers), Right click and go to properties, click on Driver tab, select Install driver and point to the directory in which you extracted the driver from the Asus website. Your driver will now install and the card will work immediately.

I did not manage to install the additional utilities so only got the barebone driver working. I suppose the added utils are not compatible with Win7 64 bit and/or my new system.

I've also succeeded by doing these steps, alas only the barebone driver was installed. When I disabled all my devices as I wrote above, the driver installed successfully, thus the Xonar control panel became functional.

You will benefit from installing the full package. Good luck!
