Windows 7: SB Audigy Support Pack 2.18.0001W7 (01/10/2009)

Windows 7 RC1

Thanks for the help, darreno and momalle,

I'm a little reluctant to try fixing this problem again because I don't want to have to go through another format, especially now that I have all my programs and updates installed and everything else is running fine.

I tried to create a system image, but because of my dual boot with XP on separate drives, it'll only let me create an image of both drives (80 GB) and I don't have enough space.

I have enough space on an external 500GB drive, but it won't let me use that because it's formatted to FAT32 (if I recall, I had to do that to use it on my Linux laptop...can't really remember now). I tried to use the W7 built-in partition software, but it doesn't give me the option to partition that drive (it's greyed out).

Anyway, I think you might be right about the problem not being with the sound driver. If I had to guess (I don't know a whole lot about this stuff), I'd say it's the mobo. Nothing seems to work in W7 on that thing. None of the Vista drivers would install for it (all crashed mid-setup with no error messages). I managed to get a separate ULi LAN driver to install, that's the only way I've got the onboard LAN working, but the onboard sound doesn't work and the Vista Realtek drivers I tried all crashed too. That board just doesn't seem to want to work in W7.

I've just been leaving my computer on as much as possible and uninstalling the sound driver before restarting and then reinstalling after restart. That's been working, but it's a pain.

OK, I dl'd intelliremote so I can use my remote control. But I think its just a trial software. Anyone know if it is trial or not? Any other type software to use with my remote control? Thanks.

Windows 7 - 64bit

I've been having trouble with the dreaded crackling sound while recording in Reaper... after reading about Daniel K's drivers, I decided to give them a go. I had to do a whole bunch of messing around to get rid of the newer drivers I already had installed, but finally got it done.

Sound playback seems fine and when I plug my guitar into my soundcard I can hear it fine. The problem that I have is that windows doesn't recogonise any sound coming in... I've got my default record settings set to line1/mic - 24bit, 48k but windows is not picking up any sound coming in... anyone had a similar problem?

I've tried rebooting, running as an admin, running it in XP compatibility mode, and rebooting, and nothing... I'm trying to get these programs installed so I can hopefully get my other 4 speakers to work. I have a 6.1 system and it's running the 2 front left/right speakers.

How To Fully Uninstall Creative Drivers & Solve Install Problems (Vista/XP/Windows 7)

Followed the steps above to uninstall. Used driver cleaner and checked the registry settings method also.

Also changed the Audio properties to 24 bit / 48000 under Advanced Speaker Settings - This seems to fix the buzzing

Also checked the output source on all programs: foobar, vlc player, Windows media player, kmplayer - some used primary default out, or creative audigy out, or wave out. I had to play around to see what the best output device was. But so far I'm buzz free

I currently use An Audigy 1 Platinum, with that internal drive. It's ancient but it gets the job done.

Using Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate

Also, if using asio for recording programs, I set the latency to about 10ms.
