Has anyone else had a problem with media player not finding any music? If you know any way to fix it could you please let me know. I have selected the folders I want it to search in but it doesn't seem to be finding anything.

I have win7 on my laptop and desktop. I have no problem with wmp on my laptop but my desktop suffers from the same problem as yours. There are two ways that I have found around this but they are not solutions since the problem doesn't go away.
You can either delete the music library file that wmp keeps:
1. stop WMPNetworkSvc.
2. go to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player and delete file called CurrentDatabase_371.
3. restart service and start wmp.
Another way that works for me is to remove the music folder from the library, turn off wmp, start wmp and readd the folder.
Both methods require wmp to rescan the music library but it's the only way I've managed to get it to read my music. I also leave wmp running. The library only gets corrupted when I close wmp and start it.
lol.... well i seem to be in the same boat mate, i don't use WMP i use MPC so this is the first time i have fired it up, i added the relevant folders to the library but they don't seem to be listed..??
there are a few listed but not all, that is strange..?? can anyone actually access their music with WMP..??

Like i mentioned before, there is no problem with wmp on my laptop. Which is weird. My performance index on my desktop is screwed up because it's showing my HD speed as 2.9 whereas on Vista it was like 5.9. So i'm thinking that there might be a driver issue, but I did get the latest nVidia drivers through WU. Maybe the messed up HD drivers are causing this.
No I can't access any music from Media player but I can still select my music from the folder and get it to play on media player
you should delete all the database files... next time you start wmp it will rebuild the libraries
I've been trying to crack this elusive WMP12 library issue for 2 weeks now. Apparently, all the steps outlined in this forum and others doesn't seem to work for me.
There's a weird solution to this problem that I've accidentally discovered,
Go to Start>All Program>Right-click "Windows Media Player" select "Run as administrator"
And just like that, WMP burst into life and started rebuilding my library. It took a good 3-4 hours for it to complete, but it got there. To my amazement, everything was accounted for
Don't ask me how/why this worked, it just did. Ain't it weird?
Yes, I'm running an account with administrative privileges.
Apparently, WMP just needed a shove in the right direction, am using it now with no issues without a need to run it as administrator.
Tip: If you've enabled "volume leveling" don't forget to "apply media changes" it's under Tools to commit changes you've made to your library preferences.
