    Headset mic ssshhh/squeaking noise.

    Hello

I've come here seeking help with my mic, you see it makes a high pitched I don't know hmm squeaking? sound constantly, I have tried everything, really everything
(besides asking a forum lol) for 6 months now but with no luck.

I've messed about with audio drivers
    Audio settings every possible combination

I don't even think it's the headsets fault I've had used a different one but still had the same problem so I think it's my computers motherboard ( I think my PC specs are listed somewhere here)

Now my girlfriend has the same problemish when I talk to her over skype I recieve a SSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHH sound that is really loud and sometimes I cannot understand what she is saying we are both using steel series siberia V2 and before that we had the razer charcharias (Spelling)

Anyway I hope someone here can help us, the only other option I have now is to buy an audio card but I don't even know if that would work.

Also sorry for typing in such a mess I've been up ALL NIGHT for the 20th or so time trying to fix this

    Thanks for reading! :)

EDIT: Asus P8H61-M LE (Intel H61) motherboards name

A few questions; is the headset/mic in questions a usb or 3.5mm jack connection? Where are you making the connections to the computer...directly into the mobo or front panel of case? Have you update the sound driver?

Hi thanks for replying it is a 3.5mm jack, I've tried back mobo ports and the front of the case even tried my keyboards 3.5mm jacks and yeah the audio driver is up to date.

    Thanks again.

You say you've tried the same headset/mic on different computer and works fine? How old is the mobo and have you tried to update the BIOS. Sometimes a BIOS update will fix these types of problems. The only other conclusion I come to, is that the onboard sound is going bad.

Come to think of it, you can get an add on sound card for $20 and test it that way. You can always return it.

Yeah I think I'm going to have to buy a sound card, the mobo itself is only 7 months or so old, my last PC had the same problem with mic settings.

    Thanks for replying

Have you contacted the mobo tech support and submitted a support request on the issue? Is the mobo still under warranty? You might be eligible for a replacement.

    Hi again.

Yeah I have a years warranty so I'm still good also here is a video I made of what the sound is...

    BLR 2012 02 12 02 27 59 01 - YouTube

The "Recirding devices" settings are at 100 volume and +20 DB I have tried lowering both settings but the ssshhh sound stays the at the same volume as my voice so lowering either doesn't help.

    Thanks.

Are you connecting the 3.5mm jack to the front panel of case or back of mobo? If you are using the front panel double check the connection from panel to mobo, in that it's the right type of connection...ie..HD or AC97 and that it's fully plugged in all the way. Then Check in the BIOS and make sure that it's set to the same type of physical connection, either HD or AC97 so they are both the same.
