    Help no sound just installed windows 7 x64


    I have a HP Compaq dc5100 small form factor pc that I just upgraded to windows 7 but it has no sound, and I can't find drivers or anything for it. I really need sound due to work and can't have my sound not working. here's a link the the full specs of my computer, plus 4gb of ram

    You need to go to HP and find the driver for your integrated audio chip. Download and install the 64 bit driver

    Hello!
    downlaod sound driver from this HP compaq site : (it's the first link "Audio-driver")
    try to install and see if that works.

    if not then:
    open device manager and right click on unknown device (which is you sound card) then properties
    click on details tab and hardvare IDS in dropdown list,
    now copy all and paste here.
    it looks like this:
    USB\VID_04F2&PID_B008&REV_9327&MI_00
    USB\VID_04F2&PID_B008&MI_00


    using that info we may be able to find driver for your soundcard.

    I got it, the automatic driver installation was turned off for some reason and wouldn't let new drivers be installed, got that fixed though, I figured I'd figure it out at somepoint. Thanks for the advice though!!!
