    upgrade soundcard

I want to upgrade my old Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer
The main reason : / better sound quality / only for gaming
What would you recommend ? Asus ? Creative SB ? Or something like this :

FiiO QOGIR E09K - Desktop Amplifier - TrustedReviews

I'm using for gaming the headset Sennheiser HD 429
In case i go for FiiO E09K, i won't have anymore EAX effects / Crystalizer and many other SB functions.
Any ideas / advices are welcome.
    Thank you.

Stereo mate I personally like the Asus Xonar series of sound cards I have the basic Xonar DG in all my main machines and the GUI is really good for mixing and effects. It can be used with almost all systems including 5:1 and 7:1 surround systems and the sound quality is really what I like and I ma fairly fussy with audio.
Sound Cards and Digital-to-Analog Converters - Xonar DG there are more models than this and they go up in price as well of course but it suffices for me and the best part is that it is not expensive. I use the Logitec Z506 system on my main machine and like I said the the sound is really quality stuff.

One of the more expensive is this but I have no experience with it Sound Cards and Digital-to-Analog Converters - Xonar DX

Yes, i agree with you. But all i want is to improve the sound quality.
If i go for this :ASUS Xonar Essence STX 124 dB SNR / Headphone AMP Card - Newegg.com
do you think it will sound better than my Xtreme Gamer card ?
I mean, with the same headphones.
    Thank you

Well to be honest mate I have no experience with that particular card or the Xtreme Gamer and also I don't game much at all.

I am more interested in audio quality than anything else and then for music and sound tracks. But I would say whatever you use if the phones are a good quality one then the Asus which looks to me to be the real deal as far as specs go - would be the most likely to give you the quality you want.
