    Latest Drivers from Realtek

The latest drivers cause a Code 10 error. Like everyone else on this thread i too received that error. However the driver at HP website does work fine.

If anyone is still interested, I managed to get Realtek integrated AC97 Audio Controller working on an old HP Pavilion a808x Desktop PC that had Winodws 7 Ultimate x64 installed on it. Here's the procedure I followed:

    1. Download the AC97 Audio Codecs from the Realtek site starting at Realtek. The version number is 6305 and the download is a zip file named 6305_Vista_Win7_PG537.zip.

    2. Unzip the file and then double-click on it and follow the prompts to install it.

    3. Reboot the system when prompted.

    4. After you log on you should see a new icon in the system notification area of the taskbar. Click on it to open the AC97 Audio Configuration utility and select the Speaker Test tab and verify sound is coming out of your speakers.

    5. If everything works OK and you see a Program Compatibility Assistant dialog, click the option to indicate the audio Control Panel item is working properly.

    Good luck!
