X-fi Champion series fornt IO panel and mic/headset problems

HI I have had my x-fi Titanium Fatal1ty champion series sound card for a while and was working nicely with my 5.1 speaker setup but could never get the IO panel to work properly and just left it for a rainy day to fix, this day has now come.

As I am now using Ventrilo for BF3 to chat with my clan members in game I needed to grab a headset with mic so went and brought the Corsair HS1A after trying it out at a friends place and was impressed with the sound quality.

After plugging in the IO panel there are several things that are wrong with it firstly there is a horrible sound coming through the speakers when I do plug it in and it does not recognise my mic and headset when plugged into the to IO ports in the front also it does not light up behind the 3 red buttons on the front of the panel I have read elsewhere that this is happening to a few other panel insisting that the pins on the connector need to be pushed firmly in but I have pushed it in as hard as I can without breaking it.

I also nooticed on the connector from the IO panel to the soundcard there was an orange wire loose is this supposed to be like that I tried to re seat it back in ?

So I tried the back ports the headphone works but I am unsure what settings to do to get the mic working when I enable it in the recording devices firstly I can hear my own voice and also there is a lot of static in the background I have it set to sb-x-fi microphone in ventrilo not "what you hear" but am unsure on the best overall settings to use.

I am on Windows 7 Ultimate I have the latest BIOS version for my motherboard and the latest creaative drivers, the on board audio has been disabled in the BIOS and is not physically plugged into the motherboard either. any help would be appreciated

Windows 10 64 bit

I don't have my system currently installed (I had to remove it as it interefered with my Recording Studio audio interface unit) but there are two cables from the front panel module to the sound card. I also do not recall any loose wire.

I would contact Creative support about the problem with the wire and the front I/O assembly.

I only used the headphone output one time with mine, and it worked OK, so mine must be OK.
