Go into the Realtek HD Audio Manager and click the folder icon in the top right corner and tick "Disable Front Panel jack detection".

Driver 6.01.6050 - downloaded yesterday, where do I check if its 2.43?

    Also,not sure if this is mentioned but I believe there is also a 00 00 00 00 which is line-in, I think

The f5 suggestion worked great - if you do not see a pin - plug in the cable, hit f5 to refresh and you will see the pin.

I can't verify that it actually works though. Not sure if rear speaker port is outputing front speaker sound as configured or as rear speaker sound, I was unable to remap a mic in as a speaker out. I also tried to remap the front headphones port as front speakers figuring this might solve my problem of getting output from both lines at the same time however when I changed the headphone port to 04 00 00 00 and restarted the sound card would not recognize that a cable was even plugged into the headphone port,

5.1 Surround - 6 Audio Jacks on board

I just thought I would give an insight to this problem since I have done so much research on it. I actually just solved my issue when having 6 audio jacks in the back of the motherboard.

Make sure you download and install the latest realtek drivers for this to work correctly.

Here is what I accomplished when I installed the latest realtek drivers for my on board sound (5.1 surround) with 6 jacks in the back [ MotherBoard: EVGA X58 ] while in Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.

    Navigate to the following key:

    "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000\Settings\Drv6050_DevType_0889_SS80863a3e"

    Here is the pin combination:

    Pin01 (green jack - front speakers) 04 00 00 00
    Pin02 (black jack - rear speakers) 05 00 00 00
    Pin03 (orange jack - center/sub) 06 00 00 00
    Pin04 (brown jack ) 07 00 00 00
    Pin05 (pink jack - microphone) 01 00 00 00
    Pin07 (blue jack - line in) 00 00 00 00

Now, what I wanted to do for my configuration was to have all my surround sound work as well as have my headphones/mic work at the same time. With the new HD audio, plugging my headphones in the front panel would disable all my speakers - which was unacceptable. Since my options would not allow me to reassign the jacks like I could in XP, I settled for this fix.

I ended up having my front speakers plugged into green (pin01), sub/center plugged into orange (pin03), rear speakers into black (pin02), microphone plugged into pink (pin05), and finally my headphones plugged into brown (pin04).

Like I said earlier, I wanted my headphones and front speakers to both work. So what I did was change the value of the brown plug (pin04). This has to be done AFTER you plug the headphones in. Change the registry value of the brown plug (pin04) from 07 00 00 00 to 04 00 00 00.

After you change the value, DO NOT unplug your headphones or the value will reset to it's default of 07 00 00 00 once replugged in.

After you have changed the value, RESTART YOUR COMPUTER. This should enable the value to be recycled and enabled on all programs. Your headphones should now work along with your speakers.

This can apply to any jack - I just chose the brown jack since it was open.

On another note -- If you have a different configuration, say only 3 jacks instead of 6, you can still follow those steps. You will just need to find which pin# are assigned to what.

To do this - if you plug these items in one at a time, you can see what pin assortment is assigned in the registry. If you already have pin values, delete the Pin# files and then unplug and replug each item in and you will see what values are assigned to each jack on your motherboard. F5 key refreshes the values so you can see what registry value is being added. So.. delete the values after you have removed all plugs, plug 1 item in at a time, press f5 in REGEDIT, and take note of your values.

I hope this helps some of you who are struggling. I know this problem has plagued many of us and still continues to do so. Thanks to the original poster for this solution -- hope this is helpful.

I found these pins under a different key. Instead of appearing under 0000 they appear under 0007. I tried changing things but it was screwing things up. When I was playing a movie I could only hear background sounds - I couldnt hear any monologue. I restored the registry key I backed up, restarted and it was fine. Let me ask you this - your brown port default is side speakers - are you sure you are getting front speaker sound out of it and still not side speaker sound?

I have a grey instead of a brown but I think its the same - side speakers. And I thought Pin 7 was the front headphone jack and Pin 8 was the front in jack, and Pin 6 was the blue.

Also I know have driver 6.01.6050 but where do I check for version 2.43?

    Hi all....

    I just bought Onkyo HT-S3200.

During set up for my PC, after I have connected the HDMI cable and Optical cable to the AV Receiver, I tried to run some test.

Btw, my PC sound card is 5.1 capable.

First, I test on my musics(MP3s).
When I was trying to switch it to DTS or some other functions on my AV Receiver, I couldn't. The only selection is "PCM" and the musics came out from only my front Left & Right Speakers(2.1).

Then I tried my blu ray films.
This time I can choose between Theatre Dimension, Dolby, Pro logic2, Direct, DTS, etc... and get sound playback from 5.1 speakers.

What went wrong? I have been trying and I'm at wits end..

    Please advise..

    Thanks so much....

Problem with Acer5740G Notebook & Creative 4.1 Speaker

    Hi Friends,

Recently, I bought an Acer Aspire 5740G laptop with Win7 and facing sound problem with my Speaker system. I am using Creative Inspire 4.1 Speaker for long with full satisfaction in my previous desktop with XP. Now I can only get sounds from 2 speakers, whether front/rear. I Cannot get the sound from all the 4 Speakers as the Speaker Configuration in the Realtek Audio Driver Manager is disabled. I think this is may be due to Win7 & RealtekDriver mismatch and for which the jack-sensing is not working.

Plz note that, there are 3 pins in my laptop. The Black one is for Lineout/Headphone. Other two pins dedicated to Microphone & other Digital_Input. Creative 4.1 Speaker system has 2jack, Front & Rear. Now, while I inject the front jack into the black pin of AcerLaptop and rear pin into the mic pin in the Acer laptop, I get sounds only from the black pin (LineOut/Headphone) i.e. get sound from front speakers. Usually, while I inject the rear jack into the mic pin, it get changed to speaker(rear) output in my previous system (desktop with winXP). But this time with this Acer laptop it is not changing.

I have attached herewith the picture of my Realtek Speaker Configuration Window & Creative Speaker for your better understanding of the problem. I am struggling with this problem for last couple of days and passing very painful time. So plz help and advice me what to do.

    Sincerely,

    adctg
