Renaming Devices in Windows Sound Control Panel

    Renaming Devices in Windows Sound Control Panel


    If I rename audio devices by the method indicated below, will there be any negative repercussions? I would assume that programs don't use those names to identify devices, but I want to double check.

    I've never tried it (or needed to). Give it a try and if doesn't work you can always change it back.

    Welcome to the windows 7 forums.

    My question is Why is it necessary to rename audio devices?

    Who sees it but you when you look at the properties???

    The less you mess with things, the better they operate...

Originally I had a yellow triangle over the laptop and printer. I resolved the printer warning by uninstalling the drive and restarting the computer. But I have no idea what to do with the laptop warning. From what I've checked my laptop driver is up to date.
So I've detected that my PC has been a bit slow lately, it takes longer to load webages and stuff. But this strange thing happened. I was rendering a youtube video, when Sony Vegas Pro 12 was done with the file, the software crashed, and after that my PC has been complete sh*t. Before I restarted...
Brand new Windows 7 Home Premium (6 bit) computer. When I click on the Sound control panel item, sometimes it takes 1-2 minutes to open. But that's kind of minor (although I'd like to know how to fix it), because sometimes the HDMI sound to my HDTV works fine, and sometimes it doesn't work at all....
When I right-click the speaker icon in the system tray and choose Playback, Recording, or Sounds nothing happens. I usually use this function often as I use a USB headset at times and to adjust the Line In volume (for my Xbox 360). I can't recall my changing anything recently that would have caused...
