Realtek, Windows 7 64RTM Crackle/static/popping

I have tried pretty much every solution posted in this thread to no avail. This new strain of thinking about the HD audio manager itself is intruiging to me. Aphelion, if you figure something out and can explain it so a non-techie like myself can understand it would be great. As it stands right now the 2.39 drivers aren't doing anything to change this. I tired disabling all the "line in" devices (headphones, microphones etc) and it doesn't seem to affect it. I also tried completely disabling both my NVIDIA audio drivers AND the Realtek ones (just using the default Win7 high-def audio) and the crackling still occurred. It seems like this is an issue that is going to be hard to solve. Again, keep the solutions coming, this board is invaluable!

Ok so I installed brand new sound card that does not even use the Realtek drivers. Newegg.com - ASUS Xonar DX 7.1 Channels PCI Express x1 Interface Sound Card - Sound Cards and it is still giving me the same system slow down, and audio popping in Team Fortress. I never had these issues in vista. I am sad to say that I am out of ideas... I want to love you Windows 7, but I am about to go crazy on you! I am starting to think that Windows 7 just handles audio horribly. Guess I'll have to wait for a service pack...

I thought it was gone on the onboard sound, guess what? it's back. Then it's also present on my new creative sound card. Never had a computer that did this even my last one with vista. Anybody else think Microsoft is probably just as clueless? It's early but it may never be fixed. I had a Zune that had many firmware problems and they never fixed them. If I could I would return this and get a computer that runs vista or XP. This is just madness!

I seem to have finally overcome the problem.

Using this driver 5898_PG281_VISTA_TurnOff_PullMode_Upd and going to:

C:\Program Files\Realtek\Audio\HDA and running RtHGVCpl.exe in Win Vista/sp2 compatibility mode.

The down side of this setup is no user adjustable graphic equalizer, on the plus side, I think this driver has cleaner sound and a bit more volume than the other Realtek drivers I've tried.

Nice try but it doesn't make sense that it's the audio manager because this problem exists with windows default drivers.

I should have mentioned this was in regards to the Realtek drivers.

In a previous post I'd mentioned the audio manager being part of the problem as it seemed to lose contact with the drivers and repeatedly tried to reset the input device.

On this systen, the driver link I posted, plus running the sound manager in compatibility mode has "seemingly" cured the problem. I've played mp3s using Winamp, played DVDs, Audio CD...etc. Run videos online, played movies, let the computer go into sleep mode. Nothing seems to faze the audio output.

I would install pull mode off driver but windows doesnt start when i do

Have you tried uninstalling the driver in windows, running driver sweeper in safe mode, and then installing the x64 driver not the x86 + x64 drivers?

Sounds legit. I'll give it a shot. Do you know where I can get the solo x64 driver? thanks!
