Realtek, Windows 7 64RTM Crackle/static/popping

Return to acer again for repair? I can't return it to the store, I don't have the original packaging(they sent it back in a plane brown box) and the 30 day return thing is up. I bought it early december late november.

BTW does that latency even look bad at startup? Oh well guess I'll pack it up again and see if acer repairs it. They don't have very good customer service. The best way and the way I did it was file an RMA online and tell them what was wrong, unfortunetly they were not willing to fix it. All they did was send me a piece of paper back with the machine that said "tested".

Explain at the store where you bought it. Its useless if a factory PC doesn't work.

unfortunately the store I bought it from is J and R music and computer world in new york and I'm in the mountains of Denver Colorado. I bought this computer online. I've only ever bought one computer in a real store and that was in 1996. So just drop them an email or call and see what they say?

Yes. If I built a PC then it might be I misconfigured something or something broke. For a factory PC, contact them. This shouldn't happen.

Well the store won't take it back but acer is paying for the shipping this time to them. Just hope they fix it this time instead of just "test unit". The customer service is all automated and when you get a person it's someone with a heavy accent. Needed help with the call because I couldn't understand nothin' lol.

good news for those who have an Asus X61SV or F50sv laptops! upgrade to the latest bios (2.05) and the crackling will be gone FOR GOOD with the latest drivers (2.40)! No more TURN_OFF_PULLMODE beta drivers like before).

Thanks to everyone for this thread, although I've not found a fix yet. I'm running a Dell Vostro 1000 laptop with Windows 7 64bit, and the Realtek audio of course, and whereas I don't hear any mild crackling, on occasion I get a blisteringly loud second or two of static, which really hurt my ears the first time it happened (I was listening through earphones).

This has also affected my use of Skype and backup of audio files, which have been infected by the same problem.

I rolled back my driver, to no avail. I tried one of the newer drivers (2.31?) and got an error message stating that the driver could not install.

Now trying the latest driver from the Stickied thread. Hopefully it works.
