It Doesnt work for me, I uninstalled my Realtek drivers, and selected my max memory to 2000 (2GB RAM)
And installed again the newest Realtek drivers, and restarted my PC, But still got the crackling sounds,
Did I did something wrong? Or its just not working ,

I have a feeling the mem fix is limited to only a few instances, in any case you would probably want to use 2048.
Have you run the DPC latency checker? How bad is it?
The usual suspects are the video drivers and the network/wireless adapter drivers.
Also, any program that's running in the background constantly hitting the CPU, some security related software can be heavy handed.

Earlier I had erroneously reported that my Snap, Crackle and Pop had been fixed by installing a new Realtek Network (NIC) Driver.
This Fix was only temporary as the next morning when I turned on my PC I immediately launched the Latency Checker APP and Red Spikes 'through the roof' were immediate. Checked the 2 Channel Audio (CD) and Snap, Crackle, Pop was back.
I then went through the List in Device Manager and then looked at any start up items being called on Boot-up. I found the application Easy-Tune. I shut this application down in config.sys so it would not load on start and my Latency Spikes disappeared.
Easy-Tune is an Over-Clocking Utility supplied by my Motherboard Manufacturer Gigabyte. This program and how it was configured was the Culprit.
My Audio problem, Snap, Crackle, Pop is gone and has not reappeared. Hopefully it will remain that way.
This one was a difficult problem to assess and repair.
Could somebody explain in steps, how to fix the crackling sound.

Just wanted to hop on and say that uninstalling Gigabyte's EasyTune 6 B09.0216.1 fixed the snap/crackle/pop %100 for me. Thanks all!
*Edit: Just for kicks I reinstalled a later version of EasyTune (6 B10.0130.1) and the crackling came back immediately. Then uninstalled and again went away. So, for me, EasyTune was definitely was the culprit.

This little utility was a great help for me.

In my view, this is still a problem with WIN 7 and how it possibly interacts with selected Hardware and Memory Usage.
Although we got relief from our offending application (East-Tune) many many others have not and they are using different configurations alltogether etc. The only common link for all of us has been that Windows 7 is the OS used.

Music flickers/crackles in Windows Media Player when browsing the Internet
I get the crackling/popping sound when I'm listening to my WMAs or MP3s in WMP and browsing the Internet. I have an HP S5212Y 2.5GHz Intel Pentium E5200 CPU and GMA 3100 graphics, 3GB DDR2 800MHz RAM, 320GB of HD, and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. It has a Realtek sound card and the latest driver I installed is dated 2/10/2010. Any help would be greatly apprciated as I've been trying for a few weeks to fix this.
