Speakers Randomly Change volume, Click, and/or Become Muffled.

My speakers are built in with my monitor. I have an
HP w185e monitor
sound card: Realtek High Definition Audio
CPU: AMD E-300 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics
Motherboard: PEGATRON CORPORATION 2AD3
RAM: 3GB
Graphics Card: Amd Radeon HD 6310
Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit
The computer is an HP Pavilion p2 desktop model.

So I will just be listening to music and i'll hear the volume decrease, and the sound become muffled. Sometimes i'll be listening to music and the speakers will suddenly become amazing. It's been happening for several weeks. I haven't installed any new audio drivers or anything.

I can describe the sound as decreasing in quality significantly. Sometimes it sounds like it's clicking rapidly if you put your ear close to the speakers.

Any help is greatly appreciated. This is driving me crazy! LOL!

Edit: It's clicking more loudly now, to the point it's messing with my music.

Reseat the audio cable at both the monitor and PC ends (unplug then plug back in) and see if that helps.

Plug a headset into the rear GREEN speaker jack and see if you get the same thing with a headset. That will isolate the problem to either the PC or the monitor's speakers.

I unplugged the cable at the monitor and out of the back of the computer. When I plugged them back in the problem still persists. So I put the headphones into the front jack on the computer. It's still clicking, but the headphones are worn and it may be the headphones fault.
So I plugged the headphones into the speakers output on the back of the computer. Now I can't get any sound at all from the headphones, (Edit: When I plugged the monitor back in I am indeed getting sound, but it's still clicking and the audio is switching from good to bad).

REinstall the RealTek sound drivers from HP. Do not use non-Vendor sound drivers unless that is all that is available, as non-vendor drivers do not work or work correctly in many cases.

THank you so much!! The clicking is gone!! Crisp, clear, loud audio. It's been awhile. ^^ Thanks again!! Solved. ^^

Edit: It's clicking again. No... It's also switching between good and bad audio... It might be the speakers though. It sounds almost like the speakers blow out, then start being good again. I don't have another set that isn't blown to test with though. Even my headphones are blown.

I am a 3D artist, and sometimes I will play music through the Internet while I use some pretty high requirement programs to make artwork. Do you think I could be messing it up?

Video has been known to cause some noise problems. Whether that is your problem or not ???

Check AMD for any updated video drivers and install them.

But, until you get some known good speakers or headset you will never know for sure whether its a PC or speaker problem.

It doesn't do it anymore. I mean, sometimes i'll hear it pause when i'm seriously lagging the computer, but I think that was messing with it the whole time. As long as i'm running something by itself, the speakers are fine. I had to remove the RAM and put it back in the other day because it was stuck beeping. XD. But it isn't happening anymore. I'll just mark this as solved... Thanks. I think lag was causing this.
