Can not install Realtek AC'97 Hi Definition Driver

    Hellow,

Previously I was using Win 7 Ultimate. I have Intel 915 gav board. I was not able to hear sound from front panel jack with Intel board original Audio Driver hence I installed Realtek AC 97 drivers and I was succeed in hearing sound from front jack with headphones. There are no updates available for Intel 915 gav drivers. Yesterday I installed win7 home premium. I installed Realtek AC 97 driver for win 7. I got the message that software has been successfully installed but it is not showing in device manager under sounds tab neither I am able to hear sound from front jack after connecting headphones. I device manager, it is showing the driver as Realtek High Definition Audio and it not showing as Ac 97 audio as it was showing in xp and win7 ultimate. Pl guide me. My PC configuration- P4 3.0, 2gb ram, 160 gb hdd, win 7 home premium, intel 915gav board.

That is an old motherboard and Vista/Windows 7 are not supported by Intel (no drivers). Thus you are at the mercy of trying to find something that will work. Vista drivers will work with Windows 7, but XP drivers will not.

Try updating the drivers from the Device Manager and see if Windows comes up with anything.

Thanks for reply. Issue resolved in the following way.
I uninstalled default audio drivers of win7. Installed audio driver came with intel board cd. Opened audio device interface and changed setting to apply for Headphone. Now sound is present in front jack.
