Headset is not working?

Hey i recently found back this old headset while i was cleaning up my house a bit, well it isnt really old just 2 months old. So anyway i hooked it up and tried talking to my buddy on skype but it turns out he could not hear me while i can hear him, i double check making sure everything was working and the headset works fine i can hear sounds from it for example: watching youtube videos i just cant get it to work with skype so should i just throw it away or what?

Check your skype settings for default device...make sure your headset is plugged in when you check.

I did still nothing

I hope i dont have to throw it away any thing else i can look at?
