    problem default device

I'm having this weird problem, only my speakers works or my headphones works, they never work together and when I want to change I have to select which one I want as default device in the control panel. The thing is: I don't want to do this everytime I use my headphones, so can anyone help me??

Im using the beta version of 7 in a separated partition and vista in another and i didn't have this problem in vista.

And sorry for the bad english.

Hi Mason69, and welcome to Windows Seven Forums!

This thread has a link where Microsoft says there are 26,000 custom audio drivers, so not all of these drivers have been added to Windows 7 yet.

A bit dated but worth reading

Some have been able to get drivers to work for them, and we would like to help you there but you have not provided enough info to do that. We would need to know what chipset your computer is using for audio. A start would be to know which computer you are using, laptop, desktop, brand name and id, home built, sound card, etc., etc., ... If you would like to provide more info, we will try to find you a driver that will work.

    Cheers!

    Robert

I don't think you'll be able to switch the default device automatically.. I know you can do it per program.. ( Well at least in winamp, I know I can set which device i want to emit the sound )

My sound card has an option to automatically detect headphones. Driver specific I guess.
