    Hey try this :
    1. Right click your speakers
    2. Click playback devices
    3. Right click Head phones and click enable.

We need enough information to try and assist you. Since it worked in XP, we need to know the PC Vendor and model number so we can see if its Windows 7 compatible. There are many older PC's that are not Vista/Windows 7 compatible as the PC vendor has not made Vista/Win 7 drivers available.

I checked the ECS site for the motherboard.

There are chipset drivers and VIA sound drivers. Suggest you install both - the chipset drivers first then the VIA sound drivers and see if that helps. ECS Web Site > G31T-M7 (V7.0)

As a side note, with only 1GB of RAM, I would suggest upgrading, at least to 4GB. If you wanted to run Windows 7 64 bit, I would go with 8GB of RAM. The 1GB is bare minimum.
