    Windows7x64 Logitech x530 no 5.1 just 2.1- Reads as 5.1

    Hey there,

I have the Logitech x520 speakers and Windows 7 x64. Since I've installed the new os, my 5.1 has not been working. Just the main front left and right speakers work, plus the sub.

Under the configuration, it is set to 5.1, and when I run a test, all speakers make the test noise.

I then thought it was iTunes, but doesn't seem like it.

How come my speakers test correctly, but when I play music, only two +sub work?!?! Any fixes for this?

    Thanks.

Because your music is STEREO. Unless your music specifically has 5 or 5.1 tracks, it'll just play L+R+LFE

It's not just my music, it's anything that has an audio track. It worked fine when I was using XP...is there any way to get around this?

You want 5.1/surround from stereo sources you need to make sure that "speaker fill" (or whatever it is called in the Realtek control panel) is enabled, without that you will only get 2.1/stereo sound.

    Logitech x-530 speaker system

After hours of trying to get speakers to play 5.1, i have discovered that windows media player included in windows 7 sucks and will not play.

However, windows media center and media player classic will play your wma and mp3 songs in 5.1 stereo.

If still having trouble download a winamp and then you have a controller to navigate with.

Good luck.......................my system is blaring now............................
