Do you get the same "hiss" on both speakers and headphones? Or just with speakers?

Thanks for the reply, when I plug in the headphones and speakers in the back I get the hiss sound, but when plug it in to the front jacks I get no sound at all, it detects it because I an adjust the volume but no sound.

Have you uninstalled and re-installed the drivers?

Before you reinstall the drivers, try a System Restore back to a date when it did work properly, since this problem is recent. If that doesn't work then reinstall the drivers from HP. (Vendor sound drivers are preferred over generic Windows drivers or non-vendor drivers).

System Restore can be accessed from Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools.

Based on what you have tried, it sounds like there could be a hardware problem with the integrated audio chip. If that is the case, and its still under warranty, contact HP support. If its out of warranty, consider installing a separate sound card and using that, as the only other option is to replace the motherboard.
