    Built in Microphone does not work


    I HAVE HCLME LAPTOP WITH WINDOW 7

    BUILTIN MICROPHONE SHOWS NOT PLUGGED IN

    MY SPEAKERS RUNS PERFECTLY ASWELL AS MY WEBCAM.

    MY AUDIO DRIVER REALTECH AUDIO. I GONE CONTROL PANEL THEN IN SOUND GONE TO RECODING TAB BUT THERE MICROPHONE is GREY DOES NOT HIGHLIGHT ANYTHING ONE RED ARROW SHOW NOT PLUGGED IN it is enable also i have installed lastest sound drivers also plzzz help

    Hi Anshu and welcome to the Forum. I didn't know the hcl me laptop was available in the USA? Anyway has the microphone ever worked and if so what have you done since it worked that might have a bearing on this problem? last worked

    this laptop is bought 1yrs a ago but some how i never used it . now one my friend has gone out side india so just came to about skype and vedio calling. but recoding tab is showing the picture of microphone. but nun of his properties r highlighted i even tryed in device manger to correct it . but failed. i think i give to hardware repairer...

    The reason I asked was that your profile shows you as being on the USA! I think your course of action is the best you can do!

    Have you checked that Skype is using the microphone you want to use. Many notebooks/desktops have build in mics, or other devices plugged in/built in that the computer recognizes as mics... So... You could try doing like this; and give me results:
    1. Right-click on the icon. Select "Recording Devices". What devices do you see here? Also try switching (if you know which mic is the one you want to use) the default device.
    2. Open Skype. Click on "Tools", then "Options". Next, click on "Audio Settings". Now test all the devices.
    Tell me how you get on!
    It could also be hardware issues... You know, the mic could be broken!
