    Sound static problems!


    I've had my laptop since April. About a month ago, I noticed the sound was crackling and popping. It mostly happens on Google Chrome. I can have a video or song playing and if I go to another tab, the sound stops and and starts and crackles. I download DPC Latency Checker. I've noticed that when the sound crackles and pops, the latency spikes. I've tried uninstalling the sound driver (Realtek High Definition) and reinstalling to no avail. I even conisidered that Flash is the problem. I've updated Flash and it didn't fix anything either. How can I fix this issue?

    Popping and crackling is a frequently posted problem. Unfortunately there is no "one fix" for the problem.

    Drivers are one issue. Use the Samsung provided RealTek driver, do not use one obtained from somewhere else or what Windows will install. Video drivers can be another issue. Although you have a laptop and probably connecting to the internet via wi-fi, the wi-fi device/connection can be another issue.

    Running processes can be another cause. I had a DPC latency issue with a new desktop build that turned out to be a program that was monitoring the PC health. After I uninstalled that program the DPC latency spikes went away. So, check what is in the startup or what is in the Notification Area (lower right).

    There have been many posts on here (and other forums) about this.

    So I think I've figured out what's been causing the spikes. I disabled my wireless adapter and everything was good. I enabled it and it started spiking again. I also noticed that it spikes when I'm on YouTube or watching any other flash video. Could flash cause the problem?

    If you enabled the wireless so you can access YouTube you are back to the same spike problem. Are you close enough to the modem or router to connect with a cable and disable the wireless adapter?

    Its not a flash problem, or at least none of the problems/solutions posted have been a flash related problem.

    I connected my laptop to my router and the spikes aren't as frequent. There's one every once in a while but they aren't nearly as bad. So I guess that means the problem is my wireless adapter. What can I do to fix the problem with my wireless adapter?

    Nevermind! The spikes just started again and they are BAD!!! I've never seen them this bad before. I don't know what the problem is.

    Did you disable the wireless adapter, either in the Device Manager or BIOS, when you used the cable connection?

    Yes, I had disabled it. It seems it's not the problem though. I was guessing that Avast was causing the problems so I uninstalled it and installed AVG. I was right! There's still a sound pop here and there but it's slowly getting better and I can actually use my computer now.

    Hi, I don't know if I've missed something but just out of interest, is the laptop on battery or mains adapter, if on mains does the problem persist when running on battery?

    The problem happened whether it was on AC power or battery.

Sound static/ lag

When listening to music in WMP, or watching a video using flash I get static and sometimes lag when I use the PC. I do not know why, can someone help? Its mainly when i do something such as refresh a web page, click a new tab, its not all the time but sometimes.
Stumbled upon this trying to fix my static and it helped it out a bit, not 100% though but thought i would share it. Anyways; goto your playback devices > click your speaker properties > advanced > and change the default format to a higher setting, such as 24 bit, 48000hz (studio quality) ...
