    Some mp3's won't play

    Hope someone can help me.

I recently bought a Ibuypower computer w/ Windows 7 64 bit. I imported my music library and a huge part of my mp3's just wont play... I revised the old codec of my XP computer and noticed that the codec SIPRO LAB TELECOM AUDIO CODEC is not on the Windows 7 audio codecs list.

    Anyone has an idea????

you could try adding a codec pack,
sharks007 pack is generally the recommended one on 7forums
Shark007's FREE Codec solutions - Windows 7 codecs

shark007 is also a forum member here so the support for his codecs is very good.
what happens when you try to play an mp3 do you get a message of any kind?

MP3 playback is native in win7 so it could be something to do with the transfer of the files that is actually causing the issue.

I would check the security permissions on the files concerned and make sure that your actual user has access to read and execute the files, Also check the Everyone Group

I installed the shark codec pack but the SIRPO codec is not included. The security seems ok. Any other ideas?

Surprised that Shark does not cover what you need, as it's never let me down

A quick search on google led me to this site which purports to supply a free codec for SIRPO

Do not know the pack so cannot actually recommend it but it is proof that support does exist for the codec.

If you decide to install this pack make sure you remove the Shark pack first

    That is some specialized Codec.

I easily found that codec by doing a google search.

Here is one that says it has that codec

This looks like an old codec that is in the process of becoming obsolete, it was included in early versions of XP but later withdrawn, you may be able to get one of the codecs linked to working with win7 but If possible I would look at converting the files to a current format, if you can find a suitable converter.

    another possible source
