Missed this one. To answer the question, not unless someone is going to re-write the driver from the ground up. You have to remember that when those cards were new 512 MB of ram was a lot, never mind 2 GB or more.

    What about the KX Drivers?

I had tried them here on an Audigy Platinum and they sounded great, seemed to run fine on 4GB RAM.

Looks like it works as of the latest version,

    3550 released - x86 and x64

From reading some of that for those with more than 2 GB of ram, they may still have to play around with the settings to get clean sound.

I dont know if anyone found a solution for this problem yet. i know a way to fix this little error some of you have. but i dont know if anyone posted it here allready. but here it goes! :)

--- I found out by mistake that the card driver given (WDM) or whatever shit win7 will give does NOT work with 24bits audio what so ever!!! You must select a lower quality / frequenzy to use this card with win7. it will still sound OK but will not perform as good as it shud have.

How to fix: Go to "Start --- Control panel --- (right top corner, select large icons, or small.) and then select "Sound" from the list given. there you shuld see a speaker or whatever. select it and press Properties. then select the "Advanced" tab and then go ahead and change the bit rate in the box. i have 16 bits, 48000 hz (DVD quality) it's what worked best for me. this shuld remove the SUPER CHARGED BASS some of you were refering too.

Sorry for my English! Im deadly tiered here since its 03:18 at night xD
Anyways, hope this helpen for someone. I only registred here because i tough it'd be funny if i could
    assist someone :)

Good luck to all of you!

    kX drivers resolve problem...

Hi, i know this is an old card but i just built up another pc from old bits to play some games on and have a serious sound issue with it and windows 7.

The driver i have installed came from windows update called "Creative driver update for Creative EMU10K1 Audio Processor (WDM)".

The problem is the sound quality is terrible! It sounds almost like the bass has been turned up x500. Windows sounds are not so bad but its really apperent when playing games.

    Any suggestions?

    capmarvelous, welcome to the forums.

The Kx drivers can and do work but everyone that posts them always forgets to post one important detail regarding them, which cards they support,

    Q. Which soundcards can I use with the kX driver?

    A.
Currently, kX-compatible soundcards include all EMU10k1 and EMU10k2-based PC soundcards manufactured by Creative Technology Ltd. and/or E-mu Systems Inc., including:
The E-mu Audio Production Studio (APS) card
The motherboard models of 10k1 cards (M002, M003 and others)
    PCI256 (CT4890, CT4891 and CT4893) and PCI512 (CT4820 and SB0150) including OEM model (CT4790)
The original Live! (CT4620) and Live! Value cards (CT4670)
The Live! X-Gamer, Live! MP3+, Live! Player 1024, Live! Platinum cards (CT4760) and value cards (CT4780)
    The Live! X-Gamer 5.1, Live! MP3+ 5.1, Live! Player 5.1, Live! Platinum 5.1, Live! Digital Entertainment 5.1 cards (SB0060, SB0100, SB0102, SB0220, SB0222, SB0103 and SB0105) and Value 5.1 (SB0101)
    The generic and custom OEM Live cards (CT4830, CT4831, CT4832, CT4850, CT4870, CT4871 and CT4872)
The Audigy series, including the Audigy MP3+, X-Gamer, Platinum and OEM cards (CT0070, CT0072, SB0090 and SB0092).
The Audigy 2 series, including Gamer, Platinum, Platinum eX and OEM cards (SB0242, SB0244, SB0320, SB0240, SB0240P, SB0280).
The Audigy 2 ZS series, including Audigy 2 ZS Gamer, Platinum and OEM cards (SB0350).
The Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro is not fully supported yet. There are issues with the line in ADC.
24/96 support for the Audigy 2 and Audigy 2 ZS cards is under development.

Audigy 2 Value (SB0400), Audigy 2 ZS Notebook (SB0350) and Audigy 4 Pro (SB0380) cards are partially supported.
The Dell OEM SB Live! (SB020x) is not yet supported since it uses a custom version of the EMU10k1, whose details are unknown. Experimental support may be provided when more information about it becomes available.
Soundblaster Live! 5.1 cards (SB022x) are supported.
Soundblaster Live! 24 Bit and Audigy LS are incompatible with kX, since they do not use the 10kX chips.

Audigy2 ZS Notebook is supported, although some limitations apply.
    E-mu E-DSP based PCI devices are supported (0404, 1212, 1820, ...).
Extigy is NOT supported and will not be supported.
X-Fi is NOT supported and will not be supported.

    Hi all,

first I want to thank you for this thread.
Probably I have wasted almost 1 day with trying drivers, but I saved 1 day with this thread .

Unfortunately I have come to the conclusion to buy a new sound card.

Wasted many hours on a Realtek AC'97 ACL850 onboard sound, tryed EVERYTHING possible but no sound comes out of the speakers ...
    Then I
dusted my SB Live 5.1. After some time I stumbled across this thread and finally got it to work with the Kx drivers. I was soo happy to solve the problem...
But on the next day I wanted to use skype and connected a micophone to the card -> Bluescreen.
Deactivated the card in safe mode and restarted -> works again, but only with no microphone connected.

I'm not sure if its the driver or the card, but at this point I have no more time and energy to resolve it.

Its really sad that I have to trash this great sound card.
I hope other people have more luck with it :P

Just to let you know, the newest Daniel_K driver is here:

SB Live! series Support Pack 2.0 (04/30/2010)

I'm currently in the process of trying to find the best driver for my system and came across this thread.

@Creative: You suck, and your people HATE you.

(That little quote comes from back when I used to play Civilization II with my bro... whenever I wasn't doing so well and I had riots in the cities, he would start laughing and say "You suck... and your people hate you!". I think it applies in this case.)

I wonder how many other people will read this thread before all of the Creative cards are out of circulation...
