Sounds keep cutting out on Windows 7

Hey guys, I got a very very annoying issue.

One night watching online tv sound disappeared and then few second later came back. So now I am getting random times where sound just cuts out for 2 - 40 seconds, This happens when watching movies, playing games, listening to music and ect.

I got a Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI Express Sound card and my on-board sound chip is disabled and I got Logitech 5.1 x-540 Surround system.

I've done some tests when the sound cut off I plugged the audio cable to on-board chip(Enabled it for the test) and then the sound card but they both had no sound. So I am guessing its not hardware issue. I did nu-installed old drivers and installed new ones but they haven't fixed the issue.

Also sound does not complete cut out but gets around more 90% silent, if I turn the speaker controller volume up I can perfectly hear the sound but then it comes back and is way too loud. So it's like turning down the sound randomly for short periods of time.

This is driving me mad, Any suggestions guys?

OK when sound cuts out disabling and then re-enabling sound device has no effect.

This problem is really getting annoying now!

I actually starting to think it would be my speakers, any way i could test it???

I have a similiar problem. My OS is Windows 7 home premium 64bit using a ACER laptop
using conexant smartaudioHD.
When my CPU goes up to a certain point (varies) the sound(speaker) just stops working without giving any error, but when if I disable/enable the sound will come back until about a few seconds when it cuts off again, over and over. If I use a headphone this problem wont occur, but I easely get irritated by the headphone as its annoying to have on.

I really have'nt used by speaker in a long time and I really want this problem fixed, another way to fix this is to go right click my volume controller and go to playback options and press [Playback][Recording][Sound] either of these and it returns, meaning I can just constantly switch-click btw these buttons or plug in-out my headset/mic.
But the more I do this, the less the interval for the speaker sound to cut off, so if I do this alot of times, in the end the interval for the sound to crash off is like 3 seconds pft.

Either way I have tried re-installing my sound driver and installed new ones all up to date. I'll keep looking every 2 hours looking for answers here ty for the help in advance.

i'm really starting to think it;s my speakers now:

Whenever there is a sound speakers start making a hissing noise, like (ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss) and stop if there is no more sound.

Going between folders where you have folder change sound speakers give out a click noise.

I noticed that after setting the system sound to 25% changing volume on the speaker controls does not have much effect, and basically has loud or super silent, linear sound change does not work any more :s

I did another test, once the sound cut out I unplugged the green audio jack and plunged in a headset and it worked there was sound, I plugged the speakers back in and nothing. So when the sound disappeared on speakers it worked fine using headset.

Does this means that my speakers are dying? (Any other tests I can do to make sure)

Hey i have exactly the same problem, like exactly the same... i was just wondering have you guys manage to figure it out because i'm starting to go crazy :)
