Mic volume very low even when maxed

    Hi everyone,

I've noticed with Windows 7, the mic volume seems to be very low. I've cranked it up to max volume already. If I use mic boost, the sound quality becomes ****.

Currently using Realtek HD Audio Manager and Steelseries 5H headset. (If it matters, I'm using the lines, no usb)

Hi, don't know if this will apply to your situation but I was having what I thought were mic problems and ultimately figured out that my mic doesn't appear to work well for VOIP apps when I'm using utorrent to do what utorrent does. If I pause utorrent, the mic starts working normally again.

hmm you do have a weird solution, but unfortunately I've been having this prolem even with utorrent off.

I am also having the same problem with the built in mike on my cam, it worked fine on XP but not on 7. Have managed to get another wired mike to work, but would like to find a solution.

Try doing this and check the two variables on the right. Use the DVD quality settings also like in the second picture.

Tried it, mic volume still absurdly low. Have to yell at 100 mic volume to even be heard.
