No audio after installing Windows 7 Ultimate

    Hi,

I am really hoping if someone could help me with this issue that I am facing ever since I installed Windows 7 Ultimate (32 Bit).
I was using Windows XP Home edition prior to this.
After the installation of Windows 7, I saw in the Device Manager under the section "Sound" : Multimedia Audio Controller. This also had a yellow exclamation mark.

On my desktop, on the bottom right hand corner, if I click on the speaker icon (It has a red cross on it), it says "No audio devices are installed".

    I have integrated sound card.

Can someone please tell me how to check what sound drivers I need and from where to install it?

I would really appreciate the help.

You find your driver at the mfgr's website.

Tell us what hardware you have and we can be helpful.

    You phrased that so adroitly...

    Hi,

I am copying down all the details I could gather about my system so that I don't miss out on anything as I am not sure what would help.

    Intel (r) 946GZ/PL/GL Processor to I/O Controller 2970
    Intel (r) 82801G (ICH7 Family) SMBus Controller - 27DA
Intel (r) 82801GB / GR (ICH7 Family) LPC Interface Controller
    Microsoft System Management BIOS Driver
    Intel (R) 82801 PCI Bridge - 244E

    Processor:
    Intel (R) Core 2 CPU 4400 @ 2.00 Ghz

    ACPI x 86- based PC

    2 GB RAM.

I hope the above information would suffice. I really want to get this thing working.

    Go here - CPUID

Get it, run it. Look on the tab MainBoard. Tell us what it says.

Here's the part that sux - Intel does not provide a Win7 driver. Here is the Vista 32 driver.

I downloaded the driver from the link provided by you above. While installing it, it crashed several times.
Then I went to the Volume icon at the bottom right corner of the screen (It still had a red cross on it). There was an option to search for the problem. While searching, it showed some Yamaha Sound card. I suppose the sound card in my comp was enabled.

So I went to BIOS and enabled Onboard sound!

And Voila!!! Its working now!!! But thanks for your help Antman.
