buzzing sound and a little video drag

I have formatted my HD ,,thinking a possible conflict with drivers..the buzzing started again even before installing drivers..I replaced the sound card..back to the on board card..no driver up grade..the MB is asus p8p67..it has been doing this for 6 months,,I have had the pc for 2 years ,,2 weeks and 3 days..I am very unhappy.Is there a way to check the motherboard on line?

This is a common problem, and you have 2 issues.

1 A buzzing sound.
2 Video lag.

You could look at your codecs.
Have you got any power cables crossing and speaker cables.
Does this happen when you are using earphones(Try using earphones, if you have no buzzing this will answer alot of questions)

I downloaded a codec just now..How do I know if it is up to date?
no power cables but I do have a huge power strip..hummm I really have too many wires back there.

I have 2 power strips near the pc .one is big..,in the PC a small router connecting to 2 other pc's, 2 monitors,(one is a visio TV that I use as a monitor).2 printers, a wireless mouse and keyboard,

You have given me hope..I have been really stressed that it might be the motherboard..

yes...the erratic buzzing is still there,,

Ground loop hums are caused by a "difference in potential" of the AC power grounds. Those of us that are musicians come across this frequently with connecting various effects, two amps, etc. This can happen even if the two devices are plugged into the same AC power source (e.g. the same power strip).

a few months ago when this started,,I unplugged the pc and moved it to another wall outlet..thinking an inhouse wiring problem
I will get busy and start unplugging "things"
thanks..ya know,part of me just wants to give up ,,but dang,,every thing else in this pc is so good.

If you are getting buzzing from the headphones as well as the speakers then I dont think it is a ground loop problem, can you borrow a USB sound card from anyone to try? This is purley for diag.

Do you have a mic that is always on? this could cause the problem.
