    No sound after format

This is driving me nuts, it worked fine before my computer went bezerk I know there's nothing wrong with the speakers, I've tried them with multiple devices and they do work flawlessly.

But as of tonight I've re-formatted my PC 3 times since Saturday.
First time was because some really weird things I can't really explain but I guess those are fixed.
then I ****ed up majorly while trying to restore my comoputer to its former glory (can't remember if the sound worked then, but I think it did.)
Second time I noticed that it didn't work and I tried EVERYTHING to try and make it work.
    Third time, still no luck.

Long story short, I've narrowed the issue down to the back jack (Yes it's the right one) that doesn't want to cooperate.

Front panel works fine for headphones and such.
    Please help me..

Soo many restarts, sooo much time lost.
    All this data..

Help. I really really REALLY need it.

    I'm running on Windows 7 64bit.

    Hi IanSnyder,

    Persistent issues can be frustrating.

It appears that the 'audio drivers' are installed, as the 'headphone' works fine. It could either be an issue with the 'audio configuration' or an issue with the 'audio connector/port' on the computer. Please share details of the 'sound card' installed in the system; and the 'utility' that manages the 'audio settings'. Also share the make/model of the 'speakers' in use.

Do reply with the findings; will take it forward from there.

I'll share as much as I know.
I don't have a soundcard installed, well I do. But it's unusable due to me not having the right cables and not having a screwdriver to pull it out.

I'm running on the motherboards soundcards so I wouldn't know, I think it's realtek but I can recall having some drivers for VIA audio earlier that registered when I plugged in something in a jack so that I could choose if it was headphones or a microphone.

And I don't know what model of speakers I have they are really really old but still good and functional.
It used to be plug and play I guess, it's a 3,5 jack.

I think the model is typhoon something.
After some googling I found something that looks like mine - Typhoon Acoustic 2.1.

    I think that's all I can share.
No soundcard, running on the motherboard sound, speaker model might be Typhoon Acoustic 2.1.

It seems as it could be the rear jacks alltogether - as I mentioned I've tried them and they work on other devices.

I hope I can get some help to resolve this soon enough, might not be home at the moment.
    It's still a major inconvenience.

As a first step you need to install the vendor's sound driver. You haven't listed enough PC specs for us to know exactly what you have. If you have a factory built PC (e.g. Dell, Acer, etc) please include the Manufacturer and model number in the My System Spec's. If its a home or custom built, list the motherboard manufacturer and model number. That will allow us to find out what you have. You can also download and run the free speccy and it will profile your system.

The vendor's sound driver will provide the best option. Non-Vendor drivers can either not work or not work correctly.

Also verify that your "Speakers" are set as the default audio playback device.

I've verified and made sure several times that the speakers are in fact set to default, I've also checked to see if I could find a compability issue for line in vs. out (Unsuccessful)

And I'll get speccy and I'll be back in a few minutes, thank you for your response.

Here's what I guess you need, you don't need what updates I have and such I think?
I'm a bit discombobulated about the fact that I have several audio devices.

But then again, I'm not a hardware guy.

OK. Download and install the VIA sound driver, from ASUS. See if that helps.

You can plug your headset into the rear GREEN speaker jack, for testing, just to make sure its not a speaker problem.

I have actually already confirmed that the speakers work, as stated.
Will download the driver and try again after that.

Installed the drivers, and I once again tried to plug in the headphones in the same one as the speakers, no dice.
And now I've gone back to the weird front panel issue I had before.

Even though nothing is plugged in the jack says there is. But atleast it still works so it's not a big deal.
    Speakers wont work still.
