MY Computer Knows When I go to Walk Away?

    Believe TULEX has it right!
I have an HP Notebook with WIN10. Keyboard went bad, cannot type N's, B's, and few other keys. Bought a cheap Walmart keyboard. Every time I set the laptop down on the floor and get out of the chair the USB disconnect sound chimes, sometimes two or three times. Does not matter if I get up right after I set it down or several minutes after I set it down. Just like it knows I'm walking away. SPOOKY!! Disconnect the keyboard first and no chiming. Tried attaching other USB devices without the keyboard connected and then setting the laptop down and walking away, no chiming. It's that keyboard and the chair, a recliner with steel frame. Tried other chairs and it does not happen, just that recliner.
Glad I found this thread as it was freaking me out!

    Walmart Keyboard

I also have a cheap Walmart keyboard and the plug/unplug sound. I removed all electronics from my person (thumb drive, key fob, etc) and found that nothing changed the sound. Finally I removed the only other thing that I could possibly think of, my quartz battery operated watch, and Wah-lah the sound went away. Kept my chair in place. Now I can get some sleep.

As most of you, I was beginning to question my sanity. My Fresh-built Ryzen 9 with 16GB RAM and a 2TB SSD did not have the issue until I got a new office chair. My walk-away USB noise has lasted through three keyboards, one pricey (50 bucks), one and two 10 buck ones. And Yes, even after disconnecting my webcam/mic (a Logitech 950).
At first I thought I had bad or loose USB ports and was ready to send the board in for warranty replacement, but cooler heads prevailed. I stumbled on this thread.
I think the reason mine is worse than the other 'cheap keyboard users', is that I had my tower lain sideways with the rear facing my feet mounted on a wooden shelf inches above a laminate wood floor. I think my chair rolling on the laminate floor acts as a Van de Graf generator. When I get ready to leave, I quickly push back away from the computer desk, (which also has plastic wheels) and all those nearby exposed USB wires are in close range to my grand Tesla experiment! Yes, is makes sense that cheaper USB devices might have less shielding in their wires with poorer grounding, more ground loops, or noise as well. So this may have a few more quirks or elements to consider. PS. Glad it's apparently NOT a Big Brother thing!

Yup. I still have no idea why my computer "knows" when I stand up. I can push my chair back (wheels on carpet) very slowly. I can stand up very slowly. As soon as I let go of the chair, "blup-blup" (USB disconnect sound). I covered the webcam. I installed USBDeview. I'm glad I'm not alone.

I have the same problem. I thinks it's caused by the chair. Possibly a signal created by the gas cylinder. It doesn't happen when I use a wooden chair.
