Realtek HD Audio Manager: Device has been plugged/unplugged issue

I have the latest Realtek HD Audio Manager installed, but I have this rather wierd issue. Whenever I'm watching any video (music or otherwise) the Audio Manager pops up and keeps saying I plugged and then unplugged a device from the audio jack. The manager keeps saying it's "Headphones", but I haven't done anything.

It doesn't matter how many times I click "OK" it just keeps coming back, saying "a device has been plugged/unplugged" and I have to shut down the window with the video source to get it to stop. I have uninstalled the audio manager then re-installed the latest version form the manufacturer's website and I've also disabled the front IO panel detection thinking it might be something screwed up there, but the behavior continues.

Any ideas and/or suggestions on how to fix this weird behavior would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Also, I went into the HD settings, clicked the little "i" icon and unchecked "Display icon in notification area". This has not helped, either. The manager still pops up whenever I'm watching something and either says I've plugged/unplugged headphones or some speaker (it's usually a rear one).

Try reseating and checking your speaker connections. If you are not using headphones you could also disable the front panel connection.

I have started and restarted numerous times and checked and double checked speaker connections. Everything there seems fine. I already disabled the front panel detection in the HD manager. Unless you mean to disable it somewhere else?

Could be a flakey front panel headphone jack, the cable that connects the front panel headphone/mic jacks to the motherboard, etc. Reseat the audio cable connector (unplug then plug back in) at the motherboard and see if that helps. If not, remove the cable and see if it still reports the headphone jack problem. If it still does it with the cable disconnected most likely a problem in the chip or motherboard, but at least you can isolate to where the problem is.

    I'll try that, fireberd. Thanks.

Seems to be a problem with the audio jack itself. Time for replacement?

You can buy a separate front panel I/O assembly and use that instead of the one built into the PC case. Less expensive.

I unplugged the front audio cable from the MO and it's not happening anymore. I can just leave that unplugged, since I never use the front audio jack for anything anyway.

    Thanks!

Hmm...I don't have any sound on Netflix. That's weird. I have sound everywhere else.
