If we are working with the board in your specs, then it has no realtek audio, it has VIA VT1718S. The ATI audio device it for the HDMI connection on the graphics card.

    Is your audio inoperative?

VIA is set as the default defice, so audio is operative. The only thing I'm missing is stereo mix, since I am only able to see microphone and line-in.

Is there something like a VIA Audio Setting Manager in your Control Panel\All Control Panel Items?

I was thinking if some CDs came with this computer and I remembered some did and I found Intel-Intel Series IIH55-14b DVD: User Manual: Drivers:Utilities from ASRock. Should I put it in?

You could try them, I don't think it will do any harm. So in Control panel the VIA platform manager doesn't show up?

In device manager it is displayed as VIA High Definition Audio Device. Under uninstall programs it is listed as VIA Platform Manager. Under Hardware & Sound I can see VIA HD Audio Deck.
