    Microphone not working

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

I have 2 headsets, one is brand new from Newegg, neither are working in Windows 7.

I have a Soundblaster Audigy SE with Driver 5.12.1.2016.

The sound works fine but the mic doesn't pick up anything on Ventrilo, Teamspeak or to test.

I have it set as the default device, Device Use This Device (enabled), I have tried to tick the +20dB Boost box, have tried with both listen to this device ticked and unticked, and I'm now out of ideas...

The microphone works fine when plugged into the back panel input with Realtek drivers installed, but even before I installed Realtek drivers it was not working when plugged into the Soundblaster card.

I have a similar problem in that my mic works intermittently, requiring me to sometimes 'unmute' it. I'm not in front of my Windows 7 PC at the moment, but I think it's in Sound > Mircophone > Recording tab > Properties > Levels tab. If the speaker icon has a red cicrcle on it, then the mic is muted. Click the speaker icon to 'unmute'/enable it.

This post tells the same story Microphone

    Windows 7 drivers issue

It should be noted that when Windows 7 is installed, it draws on a sometimes outdated drivers database. This can result in functions either not working at all, or working at a poor level. DO NOT RELY ON THE STANDARD DRIVERS UPDATE FUNCTION IN "DEVICE MANAGER". If in doubt locate the product details of the problematic component through device manager, and download a driver update directly from the manufacturer (this usually involves ignoring the first six entries your google search will supply: virtually all of these entries run chargeable services to scan for all updates. Most also advertise as free. They are lying. This includes Microsoft's offering).
