Found another method

I've just found another method. Simply go to Realtek HD Audio Manager, go to Sound effects and check the box: Loudness Equalization. This fixed the issue for me :)

1. Open Realtek HD Audio Manager from taskbar
2. Under ANALOG you should have inputs, right click the green input (Depends if you have it plugged on front or back) and choose Connector Retasking
3. Check the option "Headphone"

Now the volume should be louder.

What also helps is if you check Loudness Equalization under the sound effects tab in Realtek HD Audio Manager or Speakers Properties.

I hope this thread helped.
Wasn't looking for any miracles, but 6-8 straight hours of power watching Netflix using headphones with my PC made for some sore ears. My wife had some cheapie earbuds that came with her portable CD player so I figured what the heck. Plugged them into the front analog panel and they worked, but volume extremely low. Did the steps you outlined and bingo. So loud I had to actually turn the volume down. Checking the Loudness Equalization probably kicked the volume up 50% by itself. Thanks for the post.

I solved the problem of low volume on my ThinkPad T430 by simply uninstalling the Realtek driver. Windows 7 then defaulted to the Windows sound manager which I find provides better sound quality, with more controls, and plenty of volume when Loudness Equalization and Bass Boost are turned on: right-click speaker icon in Taskbar > Playback devices > highlight the device in use > click Enhancements tab > select Bass Boost and Loudness Equalization.
