No sound after socket repair..
Hi all, I'm looking for some help with an HP Notebook (HP625) running 2009 Windows 7 home premium. I damaged the power socket and had it repaired. Since then there is no sound from the speakers although the headphones work fine. It seems like he forgot to connect them back up! Is this possible?
I have tried all the tests I can find online and everything claims to be working. I have checked that the speakers are also set as the default. And when I went to check the drivers it said 'this device is working correctly' or similar. I know it's not muted, and even running the M/S sound fix it thingy doesn't find any faults.
I am trying to avoid returning it since I got it done cheap on fleabay by post. The speakers on this machine are so bad anyway I'm probably just going to use the headphones if I can't fix it myself.
So I guess my questions are- would the laptop 'know' if any plugs were pulled off? I mean, should I be getting an error message? And, can I get at the sound card (or wherever the speaker connections live!) by unscrewing a few bits? Or am I looking at open heart surgery here? Thanks for reading guys... :)
