    Speakers


    Hi all just to ask I got a new comp at work it runs fine but the question is when I play music it plays but I hear no sound but if I turn the monitor off I can hear it . turn it back on sound stops

    Could it be the I.T.Department at work has set in to act like this. Consult with them. Maybe they could help.

    is the speaker belongs to the monitor (monitor's built-in speaker)? more often the mixer setting should be changed, i think it has to do with channels, which in this case, the music is sent to another channel when the monitor is off but change to different channel when on.

    Sounds like what would happen to the PC speakers, that are connected to the PC's sound card, where the monitor is connected via HDMI. When the HDMI is active the, HDMI becomes the default audio playback device. When inactive or the cable disconnected the PC's "Speakers" (sound card) becomes the default audio playback device.

    With the monitor powered on and active, go to the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound panel Playback section. If the HDMI is set as the default Playback device, make the "Speakers" the defaul playback device and you should get PC audio. The only problem with this, its not a permanent fix, you would have to do this every time the monitor is powered on.
