I have no sound out of a sudden. I checked my Device Manager but can't find anything related to sound. Please help!

The first suggestion is to use System Restore and restore the PC back to a date when it did work.

System Restore can be accessed from Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools. Select an available restore date that is PRIOR to whatever happened.

What happened or what did you do (install/uninstall)? Was there any updates? Did you reinstall any drivers from HP?

Here is the HP audio driver for Vista. They do not have a Win 7 specific driver but the Vista drivers will work. Reinstall the sound driver.

I didnt uninstall it. I was watching a video on youtube and went to lower the volume and it stopped working completely. I didnt reinstall any drivers from hp because I couldnt find one for windows 7. I just tried to install the one you mentioned above and I got an error saying Driver Installation Failed: Could not find the MEDIA device for this driver.

The Vista drivers are applicable to Windows 7. Windows 7 is just "Vista improved" and uses the same drivers.

Could not find the MEDIA device for this driver suggests either it was inadvertently disabled in the BIOS or possibly the chipset drivers need to first be reinstalled.

First, try installing the NVIDIA Nforce chipset driver and then the sound driver.

Can you post a screen shot of your Device Manager?

Can you access the BIOS? Not sure what it is on an HP. At power up, may be F2, F10, F12, DEL, etc. Reset the BIOS (there should be an option to reset it to factory default). Then boot up and see if helps. If not, it may be a hardware problem, since you did install the chipset drivers.
