Help required with 5.1 Live 24

    Hi,

I just recently upgraded my PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 and have an issue with sound output now that Windows 7 is installed.

When I had XP installed I was able to connect my PS3 to my Creative Labs Live 24 card via an optical lead and 5.1 sound would be automatically outputted via the PC speakers. The sound just passed through the Sound card without having to have installed anything.

Now I have Windows 7 64 Bit installed I can't get my setup to work. Its all setup exactly the same, except with windows 7 I can only get sound from the 2 front speakers, no 5.1

Is there a fix for this to get my 5.1 back? Or is it not possible with Windows 7?

Movies that play on the PC all play with 5.1 sound, its just optical in now only plays via 2 channels.

If it makes a difference I'm using Ultimate Edition 64Bit.

    Thanks
    Wayne.

Stormy13 has written this post about creative cards you might find helpful Creative Sound Cards. Creative hasn't written drivers for all their cards as of yet and I'm sure they are not going to support a lot of their older cards.(edit) Also their is a site DK creative divers. this is a third party specialized drivers for creative cards as well as their applications. You might want to give one of them a try. http://download.kxproject.lugosoft.c...v3550-full.exe

    Thanks for the help.

I tried both sets of drivers on those links and kxprokect aren't compatible with my Soundcard and DanielK's driver don't solve the issue

    Hi,

I've still not found a solution for this issue and so I will upgrade my sound card.

Can anyone recommend me a sound card that will allow me to plug my PS3 into it via the optical cable and give output 5.1 sound via my PC speakers please?

    Thanks
    Wayne.
