    Onboard Audio not working

I'm using an ASUS M3A76-CM, which has onboard VIA HD audio. I was running Windows XP and it worked just fine, Windows detected the drivers, and my headphones plugged into the back worked great for audio/mic.

After upgrading, even with the most recent drivers (v.7.3 and 7.4) nothing works. It's detected the device, but I don't get anything at all. I've switched headphones just in case, and no dice.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. My husband gets annoyed when I poach his machine for sound. ;-)

    Thanks!

    Neg on the Sigmatel

Desktop, and it's the VIA onboard audio that came with my ASUS motherboard. For a long time I ran a soundblaster card, but I finally got so annoyed with the piece of junk that I threw it out months ago. I was still on XP at the time. Would it just be easier for me to bite the bullet and get another sound card? I'm running out of PCI-E slots.

I wouldn't give up just yet, from your description, it sounds like software, but i could be wrong. Haven't got anything in mind atm.
