Sound only coming out of one speaker, comes out of both headphones

You stated earlier you were wiggling the 9 pin connector to make contact before it stopped working. If so, I'd look there first for the bad connection. Wiggling the connector, may of opened the female side of the plug to where one or more of the pins are no longer making contact.

Also, check for a bad solder joint inside at the connector when you remove the panel.

While inside checking for a bad connection, apply pressure at different points. Of course, use something non metallic. Such as, wood or plastic.

I love my cheap (sub $40) Logitech speakers also, but agree so lucky it's just the speakers themselves.

I bought a 2nd set of my beloved and put on a old PC system, primarily for when this day comes for me. 8)

I have some now ancient old PC speaker system if really in a jam, and threw out at least another one, finally.
[no headphone jack, how dare they!] muhahaha!
