Youtube videos start out with volume at zero

    Has anyone else experienced this?

All youtube videos on my machine start out with the sound icon X'd out because the volume slider is set to zero. This occurs here on SevenForums and on the youtube website.

This is a fairly new occurrence. This behavior does not seem to be related to an update of Firefox (v24.0) - meaning I didn't do an update and then it started happening.

Moving the slider to a regular volume works, and that new volume sticks for all the videos I look at/listen to during that session. But on any new session the volume has defaulted to zero again.

The problem is confined to youtube videos only. Windows sound controls are unaffected.

Any ideas of what is going on?

Nah, you can leave them out - they didn't seem to be doing anything anyway

Just throwing this in to point to a problem being shared by others as well,

If the issue persists you might try clearing the flash cache:

I just found this message on YouTube's website under "Known Issues"

"We're currently working to resolve an issue where videos start playing with the sound muted by default. As we investigate, please try adjusting the volume slider in the bottom left corner of the video player to enable sound. Alternatively, you can try viewing the video in HTML5 by opting into the HTML5 trial http://www.youtube.com/html5."

    Thanks,

I also posted the "clear flash cache" suggestion in the other thread. It's a Google/Youtube issue so all folks can do is wait, try a different browser, and/or update flash.

This thread is marked solved, so I'll unsubscribe.

Thanks for the confirmation Derek. I just needed to know it was not a problem on my box. I can wait for the Google folks to get their act together.

You're welcome Bob, I can wait too. It seems pretty widespread so it hopefully wont take them long.
