    Recording problems!

On a PC you should be able to record anything that plugs into a jack cable through your line in, using free recording software.

Since having upgraded my PC to windows 7, i seem to have lost this feature. It used to recognize devices as 'sigmatel' but no longer seems too recognize anything. I can plug in speakers with no trouble at all, and using a Dell XPS 420, with a microphone jack on the front, would expect to be able to do the same with my dj mixer!

Ive tried restarting a few times with the device plugged in, there is no pink socket on the back of my motherboard and no amount of free recording software picks the jack cable up!

Please Help! i have gone through troubleshooting/windows audio/google/driver advice etc... but to no avail!

    thanks!

You need the Dell sound driver. It sounds like the generic basic function Windows installed "HD Codec" has been installed as the sound driver.

Here is the Dell SigmaTel driver for Vista 64 bit. It is also applicable to Windows 7.
