Can't get sound to work on both PC & TV (SB0730)

Hi i'm stumped with this one, the soundcard was working fine in my old system a couple of days ago before i done a fresh install on Win 7 U x64, the problem i have is i can get audio to work on either the TV or the PC but not both of them at the same time and i know i used to be able to do this allbeit with a tiny fraction of delay due to HDMI cable going to TV.

My motherboard is an older Asus P5E3 Prem video card is an ATI HD6450with latest drivers, i used soundblaster driver titled SBXF_PCDRV_L11_2_18_0015A.exe all went in fine but i just can't get this working, anyone have any idea before i buy something else?

I don't know how you did it "before". Windows will only allow ONE playback device at a time, either the "Speakers" (PC sound) or "HDMI", but not both.

I have no idea how i did it before but it worked fine ie; playing audio from PC's speakers but at the same time coming out through TV speakers via HDMI cable as i say allbeit a split seceond delay, almost echo like, i still have a few things to try as others have had the same problem but later claim they fixed it so i'll try those fixes first.

When you do, please share your results. Others (well, at least one other) are watching.

I wouldnt totally give up on the soundblaster as that brand is a good brand. So if you can find a way to get it to work then i say go for it.

Can you send sound to HDTV on HDMI, then output sound from HDTV spdif into receiver and get sound from both at the same time?

My TV allows for a sound setting of PCM or RAW, with it set to RAW, HDTV spdif sends dolby 5.1 to sony reciever.
My idea was to use the TV to function as the source switch, but the TV goes back to PCM when turned off then on so I lose the dolby 5.1

So, I output from spdif on computer straight to reciever and also use a manual multiswitch to select sound spdif sources.

I recently was trying to get PC sound out to TV but it is a pain and few things work like I wish.

It has to be something at my PC end as new card turned up today and installed and the same thing i want sound to be coming out of PC and TV at the same time, i can make it do one or the other, the last thing i want to be doing is having to alter settings everytime i want to watch something on tv, as i say i know this used to be able to work, but it's been 2 years since i last installed windows 7 and for the life of me i can#t remember what to do to get it working.

Could it be anything to do with the order i installed hardware and drivers in this case i put video card drivers in first.

If you got it to work, both audio at the same time, you were a magician. Windows is not designed to work that way.

OK I still have my old hard drives with the os on it where it was working i;ll put them back in line and see if i can get the settings from there.

Are you saying it's impossable to have windows play a video file and have the sound came out of the 5.1 PC speakers plus come out the tv speakers at the same time, because all i was doing was plugging in an hdmi cable in the video card and sound came out of both, hell if i get the old drives working i'll even video it just to prove my point, what i'm asking is not rocket science.
