IE11->audiodg.exe->itopens files for am AMD on an Intel i7 box

When I start IE11...it seems to start up audiodg.exe which proceeds to open near 75 or more files. They all seem to be labeled for an AMD system and reference some Microsoft KB article.

This causes the PC to all but stop until audiodg.exe has finished processing all the files that it thinks it needs.

Why does it think it needs stuff for an AMD processor? Registry setting?

Audio device is a Delta 66 PCIe card with attached interface box.

    Thanks in advance.

I have a Recording Studio (using Sonar X3).

I wouldn't think the Delta 66 is the problem.

I would suspect malware of some type. If you don't have Malwarebytes, download and run that, to see what it detects.

Is there any AMD (Or ATI) listed in the Control Panel/Uninstall a Program? Also what is the KB number?

I ran Malwarebytes and it found 11 items, which I told it to remove. This however did not solve the problem.

I looked into the files that are being read/loaded...the all reside in the system32\catroot directory.

Some basic research seems to indicate that these files are from prior updates that somehow didn't get removed.

I know that both catroot and catroot2 directories need to be there, but can they be cleaned out safely?
