Windows 7: Streaming audio stutter in video while buffering

Streaming audio stutter in video while buffering

Hi, I just retired my windows XP preparing for what will come this april. Everything is fine and I like 7 well enough I suppose, but since I installed it I have had stuttering issues with running streaming video and some audio. I have tried using my on board sound with the latest drivers, no love... I even bought an although outdated and out of service but good enough sound card just for this win 7 an audigy se 24bit, fantastic sound for 17 dollars. So the problem is not related to these two different sound hardware sources. I did turn off windows defender since I don't need it, I turned up system power to high performance and yet there is no change in this stuttering problem. I watch video on line courses and it is a terrible distraction to have to deal with such a simple problem that for some reason seems to have no fix. Has anyone any suggestions that might point to something I've missed in win 7. I realize this is not considered a fast machine but it is fast enough for what I did in XP and it should be fast enough for another 32 bit system. Of course there is too much bloat in win 7 and I am still learning what I should turn off or disable, this is just marketing and causing more issues for people that just want a complete functional operating system without all the bloat.

Thanks :)

Welcome to the Seven Forums.

If flash is involved, try turning off hardware acceleration:
Adobe Community: How do I disable or enable hardware acceleration?

You might also want to test using Chrome.

BTW, Malwarebytes Pro is not an antivirus tool.

Thanks, already tried all those you mentioned, the only noticeable change is when I turn off one module of malwarebytes concerning website blocking, it helped somewhat, that was found on their forums 3 years ago, so they never did anything about it. However I just turn off the blocker when I attempt to watch any videos or listen to anything streaming.

I found another suggestion on a help forum that suggest to turn off the windows media check service that is responsible for content naming and such. WMPnetwork..... in task manager services tab. I was just getting ready to try this and see if it helps me. Others reported that it did help their stuttering problems.

Not sure what you meant about malwarebytes, but it does protect my system, so much so I have to occasionally give it a good slap on the head.

edit: I finally resolved my main issue with this audio stutter, I subscribe to and watch a lot of courses and this was where I was experiencing so many problems. The primary player or default was flash, however not knowing they did have other choices in a persons account settings, I simply went in and chose to use windows media and that killed all the stuttering. I can't say for sure what is the problem using flash since I tried chrome and even bing and opera and still had that same problem. I really have to believe it will be flash that is the culprit, so I don't expect to see something better in youtube but I haven't tried it yet. I'm just happy to have my courses on track and not driving me crazy.

Thanks again

Malwarebytes does protect against some things in some ways, but it is not an antivirus app. Please see this post:

There might be better places on Malwarebyte's website that speak to this question, but that forum post was the first item in my search returns.

Glad that you found a way to play the videos
