    Realtek alc888 amd problem

I went from xp to windows 7. I have a custom built machine. alivesata2-glan board with realtek alc888 on board. I installed build 7600 on it and I cannot get the audio to work. I have the red x in the bottom right. It says no audio output device installed. The DM gives me a code 10. I have tried downloading the latest driver directly from realtek and had no success. I also tried installing it in safe mode and vista compatibility mode. I have tried the myriad of other ideas in this forum and other to no avail.
I will also say that I had this problem when trying upgrade to vista a while back. I couldn't solve it then so I gave up and rolled back to xp. I would rather not give up this time and any help is appreciated.

    x64: ASRock > Products > Motherboard > ALiveSATA2-GLAN > Download
    x86: ASRock > Products > Motherboard > ALiveSATA2-GLAN > Download

Try these...make sure to install them as an Administrator and in compatibiliy mode

If that doesn't work...also try these

Tried both and no change in situation. I noticed a Bios update is available, nothing in the notes mentioned an audio fix, but will try it anyway. Any other ideas?

    still nothing

I have tried all ideas presented. I attempted to flash the bios, but after using four different bootdisk methods, I was unable to get the flash program to work. It was a long shot anyway as the notes never indicated an audio fix. Does anyone have any other ideas?

I am glad you sorted that out...I was going through the rest of my subscribed today and I was going to recommend a BIOS update as the last draw...to see if we could get it to work
