    TV pop up audio

I hope in the rite forum. I have just upgraded from win xp to win 7 and all seem fine except I get popup audio which I think is tv ads it comes and goes be on and sorta distorted and then off. These last about maybe 30 secs. then they are repeated in a bit. No time it varies. They seem to be Okla channel ads. I have asked many and none have a answer. It start after my computer blacked out shutoff and I turned it back on. In awhile they started. There has to be something in windows to turn off to stop these. Somes they are 2 on top of each other. Has anyone ever heard of this before. I am lost and these are driving me nuts have worked on this problem for 2 days and still no luck. Thanks

I'm not sure what you are referring to? Are these "pop up" in the browser?

Post a screen shot as that will help someone to try and help you.

Also, Dell does not support anything above XP on this model. No Vista/Win7 support.

Hi Ben, welcome to the Seven Forums.

I believe you are talking about video ads that some websites have on their pages (read this post to see what I mean), the ones which start automatically as soon as the page is loaded. If so there's not very much you can do for it other than avoid those websites.

    audio popups

Maybe I can explain alittle better. I get audio when just on the desktop don't have to be on websites. Nothing comes up in browser either. A lot of the time when these come up they maybe be 2 on at same time. I can control them with the volumne control. Also it doesn't effect my audio from a game I play it just come in with it. One of u said Dell doesn't support win 7 on this model I have Does that mean it won't work on it. Maybe that is my problem?
    Thanks

As Dell does not support Win 7, that means that some of the hardware devices MAY not work. If Windows has a generic driver for a device it will install it. If not, due to a lot of Dell proprietary hardware in the time the OptiPlex GX260, you may not find any hardware driver for a device.

If the audio is working, most likely Windows has installed the generic basic function HD Audio Codec. If this is the case that will probably be the best you can do for an audio driver.

Now, back to the issue with audio. From your second description, I take it the sound is just in the background and nothing is "popping up" on the screen. This suggests it may be RFI (Radio Frequency Interference). Are you close to a TV or Radio station transmitter/antenna site? This may be because of some non supported hardware device as mentioned previously. It could be getting in through the speakers and/or wiring. Make sure all your connections are fully inserted. Did you move or change anything with the Windows 7 install?

    audio popups

I have lived here 8yrs and had this unit for 6 months just started this problem since I upgraded to win 7. This is not a radio or tv station as it is not on constant. It is TV video feed ads but I get no video just the audio. These are all kinds some even in Spanish and a few for british. This is the weirdest thing I have encountered in my 40 yrs in electronics. I have not been involved in computers but radios and all makes of TV's. If and when I get this figured out I will post the solutions. Also I may have listed my model wrong it is a Dell GX 620. They are selling them remanufactured with win 7 installed in os for them so I guess the OS will work. Want to thank everyone for their thoughts maybe I will find the solution. Like going back to Win XP LOL. If anyone has any questions just ask and I will try and tell u what it is doing

That is what I looked up on the Dell Site, OptiPlex GX620. No Dell support, although there may be drivers from other sources. I used to do a lot of support on the Dell forums and the sound drivers were always an issue on non-supported models.

Do you have any error devices listed in the Device Manager?

BTW, I'm an electronics tech. I was a guitar amp tech in Nashville in the early 70's. I used to have a General Class Ham License and a 2nd Class FCC Radiotelephone license (it was required when I worked for a Motorola Police/Fire radio communications service center)

I don't know what was causing it. However, a lot of older XP hardware is not compatible or 100% compatible with newer OS'. I read an article in USA Today about upgrading and the general consensus was unless the XP machine has recent hardware its best to not try to upgrade and just spend the $$ on a new PC. I read a similar article in the local newspaper.

    Win 7 install

Thanks for ur help but What I want to do will not work. I will just wait until I have to get another computer and get it with 7 install on it. I tried to put win 7 on this one and it went one fine, was useing it and liked it ok except I was getting tv ads coming on in the background and could figure no way to stop them. I couldn't take that so I just went back to XP. Will stay with xp until the bitter end. I just wasted my money by just buying a product ket and downloading a copy off the internet. Was hoping I could load 7 on a external drive as I have 2 drives that I could use but its just too much of a headache to accomplish this. Bad when ur old and just don't know much about doing these things.
Like I said thanks for ur time and effort trying to help me ur great
    bye for now
