I posted this over an EightForums, but wanted to check here too.

Updating Realtek I lose sound effects tab

I had the same thing on my W7 system but fixed it...just don't remember how

Where did you get the RealTek update? I've seen some, from PC Vendors, that did not have the full features. Usually the driver from the PC Vendor is preferred, but try the driver directly from RealTek. www.realtek.com

Thanks for the suggestion. I got the driver from my motherboard website. I tried the one from Realtek and no luck. I will just stick with the one I have.

It is strange. I update using the site from my motherboard and the sound effect tab disappears and I lose my rear speakers. I tried the realtek one and the audio manager didn't even show in control panel.

Seems that the other sound add on my motherboard offers called sound blaster cinema was the culprit. I uninstalled it and the sound effects tab comes back
