HDMI Audio Device No Longer Appears as Playback Device

I was wondering if you could give me some advice on a current computer issue.

So, I've got my TV hooked up to my PC as an extra monitor via HDMI. Up until last night I was able to get audio from my PC to be played/heard/whatever through the TV.

Earlier in the evening, I saw a bunch of Windows Updates needing to be installed, so I installed them. One update was for the Intel Graphics Card, wasn't able to be installed because of Windows Update Error 80070103 (which apparently appears when Windows tries to install something already installed). I didn't think much of it at the time and proceeded with the post-install restart (TV's HDMI audio was still working at this point).

Shortly after the restart (upon resuming watching the video from before), I noticed that the TV's HDMI audio was no longer playing. I checked the Audio Device manager to see if it somehow got deactivated and found that it was no longer listed as a possible playback device. I double-checked to make sure unactivated devices weren't being hidden from view (which they weren't).

I tried un-plugging the HDMI device, restarting, re-plugging - to no avail. I try replugging the HDMI cable into a different port on the back of the TV.

I then try to do a system restore to before the installed the updates but that didn't work (Windows said they it was unable to restore anything so no settings were changed).

I try to re-install the Intel Graphics update via Windows Update but I get that Error again.

I double check my nVidia GeForce driver - which turned out to need an update, so I update/restart - still no TV listed as possible Audio Playback source.

I manually installed the Intel Graphics driver update from the Intel website. Still no TV listed as possible Audio playback source.

I then go to update/reinstall the RealTek HD Audio drivers - Still no TV listed as possible Audio playback source.

I am pretty much fresh out of troubleshooting ideas. Aside from maybe uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers or re-formatting.

Let me know if you think there is anything you can think of the help.

If you have NVIDIA GE Force, that suggests it is the active video device, rather than the Intel. Check the Device Manager, Sounds section to see what is listed and if there are any error codes for the NVIDIA HDMI Audio.

I checked the Device Manager and it listed two Audio Devices (nVidia Virtual Audio Devices and RealTek HighDefinition Audio) both of which were installed correctly.

I then noticed there was an improperly installed device in "Other Devices" which was the nVidia HD Audio driver! So I re-installed it and it's back!!!

Thanks for the tip! It worked out!!!
